The main function of YouTube Live Checker is to suppress lag caused by user-side buffering during YouTube live streaming. It allows users to watch YouTube videos, including live streams, regular videos, and shorts, at any desired speed ranging from 0.1x to 16.0x.
The need for YouTube Live Checker arises from the fact that YouTube considers buffering of up to 25 seconds as part of the live streaming experience. However, this can significantly impair the user's live streaming experience. The extension aims to allow users to set their own upper limit for buffering and reduce lag by enabling optional playback at a chosen speed if the limit is exceeded.
To use YouTube Live Checker, simply click on the extension icon located in the top-right corner of the Chrome browser while on a YouTube page. If the lag exceeds the user-defined upper limit, the playback speed is automatically changed to the chosen speed (n times faster). If the buffer health falls below the user-defined lower limit, the playback speed returns to normal. Initial settings can be customized by opening the "Settings" page, which applies to new tabs or other non-live streaming screens. During non-live streaming screens or when the "Enable lag monitoring during live streaming" checkbox is unchecked, users can manually adjust the playback speed using the "Speed Controller".
